Rae Nedjadi (he/they)

Rae is the creative force behind Sword Queen Games.

I craft games that invite intuition, creativity, collaboration, intimacy, and a lot of magic. I’m comfortable working across several genres, exploring a variety of game philosophies. I subconsciously and consciously bring my experience and identity into my games: achingly queer and proudly post-colonial. My games are evocative, inviting, and delightfully challenging.

I have been nominated for the Diana Jones Award for Emerging Designer, and won a Nebula Award for Thirsty Sword Lesbians.

BALIKBAYAN: Returning Home is a Supernatural Cyberpunk game that centers Filipino myth and folklore, and was nominated for an IGDN Indie Groundbreaker Award for best setting. Apocalypse Keys is game of big mysteries, bigger monsters, and the biggest emotions and will be published by Evil Hat. Cozy Town is a sweet and lovely affair, inviting everyone at the table to create a town and change with the seasons. I have a large collection of games available on my itch page, but the best way to access my current big projects is by supporting my Patreon!

I’m one of the co-hosts of the Gauntlet Podcast, where we chat about the indie games we play online. I get to play and run games every so often on Actual Play!

I’m Filipino-Algerian and live in the Philippines. I am one of many creative voices from the global south. I’m as queer as you expect most indie ttrpg designers to be. I am non-binary, asexual, panromantic, and polyam. TTRPGs is my full time job, and helps me manage my disabilities.

You can follow me on Twitter where I post a lot of Sailor Moon gifs and use too many emojis. If you’d like to reach out to me and invite me to your podcast, panel, or project you can reach me through email: swordqueengames@gmail.com.
